Changes!

Awesome Scripture covers!!!

So pretty much it was a crazy week. I spent several days cleaning the house getting ready for my new comp to come, then they call and tell me that they're closing the area and that I have changes. I thought, that's too bad, but at least I'll go somewhere far. They then told me I would be going to the area right next to me, I could walk there... I'm still in the same zone, in the same district... Yeah, it's kinda weird, but the good news is that I have permission to keep working with my investigators in Alajuelita =)

So pretty much Elder Zelaya spent the week saying goodbye to people. Then on Thursday I went to Don Bosco (area in my district) to stay with an elder that didn't have a comp either. On Friday we went to our meeting with Elder Quentin L. Cook. He spoke briefly on the 4 things that we must love in our mission. 1- The People 2- Our Companions 3- Mission President 4- The Savior. He tolds us that when we develop love for all those things we will be successful missionaries. It was a good message, just that it was a little short. And then that night I went with my new comp, Elder Alvarez from DF, Mexico, to my new area, Vizcaya. I was able to meet the members and they are awesome! They are all willing to work and just yesterday they gave us 8 references! It was awesome. We will have to work hard cause now we have two area that we need to work in. It's going to be tough, but we can do it. Oh, and also, I'm a senior comp.

That was my week, a little crazy with unexpected results, but it was a good week. Now I just have to get to know another new area... it'll be fun though. Talk to you later!

So sorry that I always say that the week was kinda average, the thing is that my comp and I have been sick so we haven't been working at 100%.  But I promise that next week's letter will be different (an apostle is coming, how will I not have something to say?)

So this week we got in 20 lessons, it wasn't so bad considering that we were sick, we had a zone meeting. Among those lessons we were able to teach Andres, an old investigator. He told us how he hadn't been completely honest before, but how he now wants to change. He has started to read the Book of Mormon and wants to go to church! Actually, all of our investigators have been reading the things that we leave for them, it's been great! The only problem is getting them to go to church... I think we'll try to coordinate more with the members to be able to get them to church. We are slowly but surely finding new people to teach, so hopefully we should start to get some baptisms soon. We found a new guy named Mario, he's 56 and just started talking to us one day. He says he's investigated all the churches except ours. He says that there's always something missing, he seems pretty good, and says that he will be going to church this week! Alejandro still goes to church, we are just having a hard time finding time to visit him, he works a lot so he can't really meet with us. But we have an appointment with him tomorrow so hopefully he can go. And the other cool person we have is Juana. She is excited to keep learning. She went to church yesterday, and 2 other activities we've had. She's reading and keeping committments =) So as you can see we have potential here, we just need to keep working so that it stays that way.

And just an fyi, I play the piano in sacrament meeting every week... I'm getting a bit better at sight reading =)

Love you all!

Pigeons!

Christmas Eve Gift!

Christmas gift from President Wilkinson

Crackers, cheese and ketchup!!!

Patience, patience
So this week was good, but not super interesting. We were able to have a better week in some aspects but not so much in others.

This week I had a goal to start talking to more people and I have been able to do that, hopefully we'll start to get some more new investigators by doing that. And during the week we were able to teach more than in all our other weeks, we taught 29 lessons, and we were very happy with that. The thing is that we're teaching pretty much all new people, and several of the people that we've had now don't listen to us or can't visit very often. So we've been working a lot with some of the less actives, and doing these things church attendance went up =) A good thing is that Juana accepted a baptismal date for the 26th of this month, she says that it is definitely something that she wants to do. The problem that we had this week... only Alejandro and Maria Jose went to church, but we haven't been able to teach them for several reasons. So they won't be able to get baptized... we are trying to teach them, but they don't have the time...

The cool thing this week is that we went to the temple. We were able to do a session and it was the first time since they've changed things, so it was a neat experience. I could understand more than I have before. There was just one problem, you can ask me when I come home.

That was my week, the highlight was going to the temple, other than that we had a fairly normal week.

Love you all,

1 Year This Week!

So yeah, on Thursday I complete a year in the mission, just FYI. So this last week went a bit better, our numbers have started to go up and we should start to have some baptisms, finally =) Questions first though.

No, they don't celebrate 3 Kings here, and they call them Los 3 Magos. Did I do anything out of the ordinary for New Year's? Yeah, I went to bed at 10:30, weird right? But the fireworks did wake me up for a little, there were a ton, but I went almost right back to sleep. Oh, and just so you know, I should be getting my scripture cases next week =)

This week hmm, oh,  New Years. So on Tuesday we had a party for lunch. Our cook was out of town, so her son (17) cooked for us. We went to the store and just bought a bunch of meat, flan, and coke =) It was awesome. After that we had 3 more dinners... we felt like junk on Wednesday, and  we had to eat 2 more times on Wednesday... But, then I went on divisions with Elder Soto (Mexican) and since it's a vacation day, we didn't have any appointments, so finally we just went and ate chinese rice (it's really good here). Then that Thursday we just met with less actives,  and Friday is when we were finally able to meet with people. Andrea committed to go to church (she went with her sister and a friend!) so that was awesome. Ana, a new investigator wants to be baptized (AWESOME) and she was a reference from members =) AndSaturday more people committed to go to church. Well, on Sunday, our first investigator that went to church was Alejandro, he works from 9pm to 6am, lives in a different city, and still comes to church, he's awesome! Then Andrea got there, and she took 2 new investigators with her!!! It was a great day. So that was my week, we recieved some great blessings.

Love you all, thanks for the support!
