A Progressing Area

Things are still going good here, we are still finding new people to teach, the investigators that we have are starting to progress, and even the members are getting excited about the work and are helping else, things are going great!
So this last week we were able to find 7 new investigators, the only problem that we have with all them is that generally they tell us that they can only visit with us once a week. But the good news is that they accept us =) On Tuesday and Wednesday we had... normal days. Then on Thursday we did divisions, I stayed in my area with the district leader. The main thing that happened that day is that we went to a contact's house. I had met him the bus and he agreed to meet with us. His name is Michael. So we went there and he talked to us about how he had gone to world competitions for cheerleading, he is also starting a company as a systems engineer, so yeah, he's pretty cool and smart. We met him and thought, "He's golden", and then we started talking. He asked us some questions that we couldn't answer, it was hard and made us think a lot. So we'll be invtiting some members to go and help us with future visits. He's very intellectual and so he made some really good questions. We also had a good day on Saturday. We were able to meet up with several investigators, and we recieved two references, both went to church yesterday! We were also to place a baptismal date with Alejandra (we've only taught her 3 times) and she has accepted to do all that she needs to to prepare to be baptized. So it was a good day.
Now for the more interesting things of the week:
1) Elections are coming here and so one of the presidential candidates visited our area, walking around shaking hands with the people and taking pictures. So like good missionaries we took advantage, I went to take a picture with him and we talked with him about the church, he said that he had many mormon friends, many that are bishops and that we are good people. We took the picture with our phone so I can't upload it right now.

2) I got attacked by a virus and couldn't really do anything yesterday... it was so fun...
Anyways, all is going good here, we're happy and working and we are seeing some fruits. Thanks for all your support!
Todo a cachete,

Building An Area

So I don't remember if I said this before, but when I got to my area, Vizcaya, my comp told me that it was a dead area, well, we are changing that a little bit at a time. This week went pretty well, we are seeing the fruits of hard work, one of those fruits... I'm super tired haha, but all's good.

So this week I took some advice that President gave me, and we started to find some new people so that we would have stuff to do. The first couple of days we didn't really have anything, but we started to talk with more people in the street. On Thursday we had a zone meeting and President Wilkinson went too. He chopped our heads a little bit, and we got working. That day I looked at a map of the area that we have in our house, I saw a name that we didn't recognize. I felt that we should go there. So we went looking for somebody named Racquel, but instead of finding her we found 3 other people that accepted us and we were able to teach them =) Then on Friday we were able to go to the house of a contact that I had in the street a few weeks ago.  We got to the house and found not only her, but 4 other kids that are 8 and older, or in other words 5 new investigators. And then on Saturday we had activites all day, some members invited us to a baptism, then we invited people to go to a Valentine's Day activity that we had in the church (organized by the Elders Quorum and Relief Society) In total we had 20 nonmembers that went to the activity! We were able to meet another family of 4 that accepted us, 4 new investigators! In total we were able to find 17 new investigators last week! (And 2 more yesterday) It was awesome! And then yesterday we had a family go to church and they said they liked it (2 we had never even talked with), and we went to their house in the afternoon. I went with a member... this member talked a really long time, but, he really did help them. They said that they felt that they need to get married and be baptized! (Johan, Veronica, and Johan Jr.) and they now have a date planned for March 15 =) I'm pretty excited for that.

So that was my cool week, we were able to find a lot of people ready to hear our message, it just took desires to work to be able to recieve the help of the Lord.

See ya later!

Paintball with the Elders!

So this week went alright, I wasn't in my area a lot of the time, but we still got some stuff done.

So this last Tuesday, I went to Alajuelita to teach the area to Elder Reyes (the Elder who will be working there). Then on Wednesday Elder Alvarez had to go to the embassy, so we were there for a long time, I helped organize all the materials of the mission office while we were waiting for our comps. Then at about 5 I went to my area with a different Elder, Elder Gonzalez. (Everyone in my district is from Mexico... and me). We got two lessons in and that was it. Then on Thursday we had a few lessons. We were able to talk with Allan, a honduran that just moved here a couple weeks ago. He's here with his twin brothers, they're pretty cool and they are members. Allan is ready to accept that gospel, and he's super positive. After that we went to our weekly activity (soccer) and we had a couple of investigators there. Then on Friday I went to Alajuelita again. Saturday we had a kinda average day. Mostly lessons with less actives...  Then yesterday we were able to meet one of our goals, 120 people in Sacrament Meeting!!! After church we did divisions. I went with the ward mission leader to a the house of a reference. I was so far away (out of our area... but we have permission =) The good news, they were two families, 6 people in total, so hopefully we'll be able to have some baptisms soon. And then today we started to deep clean our house, we just about finished and the house looks a lot better =)

That's the fun stuff of the week, I hope you enjoyed reading, I'll talk to y'all later!

Monday, February 3, 2014

We are already in another month, it seems like just yesterday it was Christmas, and now we are in February.

So last week, on Tuesday and Friday I went to Alajuelita, I won't be covering the area =( But I have to teach the area to a new Elder. It was kinda sad, everyone acts kinda like, "Oh, there's the old elder, but you're already gone, we want the new one". But we were able to visit several people and now I know that at least there will be elders in my old area =) Then on Wednesday we did divisions with some young men. It was kinda tough, basically it was only my third day in the area and I had to guide my comp... we walked about a half hour to get to the appointment only to find out that it was a super catholic, needless to say, we didn't get anywhere with him. Then we went to one other lesson, we taught the girlfriend of a member. It's a really funny situation, she wants to learn about the church, but the boyfriend doesn't want her to go to church... The member's mom wants her to go to church, so it's kinda weird. Supposedly they have now broken up because they fought about church... so I don't know. We are also teaching a little kid, Angel, but don't let the name confuse you, he's a pain. He's only 8 and a little rebel, so he doesn't like to just sit there and listen, I've had to bribe him with the mints that mom sent me. (If he listens for "10 minutes" he can have a mint) it's worked twice =) Luckily they have the activity of playing soccer here too, we play on Thursdays =) But they're a lot better here, it's kind of hard, but I'll get better that way.  And then on Sunday a new person went to church that we didn't even know, I gave the Gospel Principles class, it went alright. And he invited us to go to his house to teach him, so we'll be doing that this week.

So that was my week, today we'll be going to play paintball, I'll let you know how it goes. See ya later!
